Rejection in the art world

Near Home, 8"x8", oil, cold wax, charcoal, on paper.

We all have to deal with rejection but there is something about putting you heart into your work and being rejected.  I recently submitted the piece above for a works on paper show.....Who knows what will happen. One thing is for sure is the painting will be seen by more people because of the submission than sitting in my studio:)

I found this article recently from Artwork Archive, "How to handle rejection as an artist"  This line really spoke to me:

"By leaning into rejection, it is possible to learn more about your audience, build your confidence, and become a better artist."
Hope you enjoy the article and I'll let you know how the show selection goes.
