Mr. Turner at the movies

J.M.W Turner was one of the top English Romanticist painters of the 19 century.  Above is one of his paintings titled "Ulysses deriding Polyphemus".

The movie Mr. Turner, just out at the theaters, is a depiction of Turner's last 25 years of life.   Some aspects of the movie I enjoyed but over all I found it a bit dull and hard to follow.  My suggestion is to read up a little on Turner to get an overview of what is taking place.  Such as his role in the art world at that time or what and why he painted.  I think you will enjoy the movie much more!

I completely enjoyed Mr. Turner. But I had a year of Art History so was well aware of his work.
