February 14, 2009

I have been reflecting a lot on creativity and how to keep it flowing. I had to take some time off during the holidays and when I went back to the studio nothing happened. Now, I've been painting long enough to know this is normal but... it is hard when you are there in the dry desert. A friend recommended Twyla Tharp's book "The Creative Habit". It has been wonderful and the thing that hit me the most is consistent work habits by developing a strict routine. How many times have we heard that one. But it makes so much of a difference!!! Get the book there are so many pearls of wisdom.

So I've been working lots and consistently. See the attached photo. My studio is a mess!

You know I can relate...it's scary enough when the discipline is in place...take that away and yikes!
