Ghost Ranch workshop May 2012

Abstract Painting & Cold-Wax Techniques [0514_G12A531]
$400.00 includes $50 of supplies

On Fire 12x12" oil and cold wax $347
Please join us in exploring the diversity of cold-wax medium used with oil paint, pigment sticks and powdered pigments. Cold-wax medium is wonderful for oil painters to experiment with, using non-traditional tools to achieve texture and finishes similar to encaustic but without the caustic fumes and heat. This exciting medium is gaining widespread popularity, and opens doors for oil painters to explore new techniques and surface effects. According to instructor Cindy Walton, 'Cold-wax medium has totally changed the way I approach painting. It offers opportunities to develop layers of introspective and emotional interpretations.'

Cindy Walton is an award-winning artist who is currently exhibiting at the Atelier Gallery and the Asheville Gallery of Art. Originally from St. Petersburg, FL, she has resided in Asheville for more than 20 years. Today she sees herself as much at home on a Gulf beach as hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Having lived in two such beautiful and diverse environments, she attributes these experiences to her present work. Walton holds a BA from Salem College and a BFA from UNCA. www.cindywalton.com
